The three betting structures used in poker is: no limit, pot limit and fixed limit. No LimitThis betting structure is used in most major tournaments. The players can at any time bet as much as they can afford, even all their chips if they want to, which is called to go all-in. This can put great pressure on the opponents because you do not always want to risk that many chips in some situations. The player who went all in is risking to lose all his chips, that’s why it’s important to know when to use this strategy. You have to analyze the opponents so you know who got the guts to bluff and who is weak. Pot LimitThe player may bet the same size of the pot. In the beginning everything may seem cheap but eventually it might get really expensive. Drawing hands are usually good when playing with this structure because you can buy cards pretty cheap. But as mentioned before, in the end the pot can be worth a lot chips. Fixed limitIn the first few rounds you get to bet as much as the big blind and in the final rounds you can bet twice as much as the big blind. If you make a mistake, you won’t lose as much chips as when playing with no limit.
